Housework and Clutter

I have 3 girls aged 10, 8 and 9 months, then there is my husband Steve and Me, all living in a two bedroom house.....its a squeeze but cosy and warm and I like it that way.....theres not alot of room and for that reason the house can become very messy.....I try to keep on top of the housework but a very beautiful baby girl does not alway allow this to happen, honestly though i would sit and cuddle Isla all day than do housework....One day my children will grow up and leave home but my housework will always be there (forever....boo hoo)

I took some time yeasterday to clear out the craft and art cupboard...that was a task in its self...the children have sooo much, ranging from wool, lace, thousands of stickers, 250 crayons, stencils, paper and soooo much more....but i don't mind as i have very creative children and to me that is soooo important.....

I spend alot of time hoovering now that Isla is on the move.....the living room gets hoovered at least 3 times a day, but even then she can find the most tiniest of crumb or the odd feather will escape from my cushions, straight into Isla's mouth.....

Dishes are always a nightmare to keep up with especially now that i spend alot of time washing baby bottles.....the girls just love to use one glass and then another and another for drinks through out the day....so needless to say there is a never ended supply of glasses to wash up.....

Clothes washing is non stop in this house (its like the story of the Magic Porridge Pot) Isla going through the most clothes in a week.....but i simply love washing all those little babygrows and tiny socks and vests.....school uniform is always in the washing machine too.....Emma can never make her uniform last for more than one day - Bless Her :)

There is alot of clutter in our house.....i never can bring myself to get rid of birthday or christmas cards and i have a massive box of the childrens art creations, boxes of photos and bags of soft toys in the loft....don't get me wrong they do have a fair few soft toys on their beds, but the rest had to be put away due to space, but i just can not get rid.....

Sometimes the mess of my house or the clutter gets to me and i think about having a massive clear out but then i go to make a start and just feel soooo overwhelmed by it all and never get around to it.....But then i stop and think....My children are very creative and it keeps them happy for hours, they bake or help out with cooking dinner.....Emma plays for hours with her toy animals and Katie loves doing puzzles......Isla has toys everywhere and i will admit i could try harder, but Isla is only 9 months and i want to enjoy her soooo much....I want Katie and Emma to feel happy at home and that they can be creative and enjoy life.....its like i said before my girls are going to grow up and leave one day (kleenex at the ready) but my housework will always be here.....so i have to make the choice of whats more Important.....I pick my children, so if the house is untidy or there is alot of clutter...Please just remember, I am building memories for my children :))))))))

  1. That was lovely, and such a great way to look at life. The kids aren't going to remember if an empty cereal box was left on the counter for two days, but they will remember the time they spent enjoying themselves. I love your outlook on it all Liz. And I also love your fabulous craft cupboard!
